Vacation in Colorado - Day 2 (Vail)

Friday was all about Vail.... and lessons! I took an intermediate snowboard lesson and Chris took an expert Alpine lesson(that's skiing ;-). Not cheap (full day lessons), but so worth it. There were three others in my group and we were all at about the same skill level. Turns out I was the only one that didn't work there though. There was a couple from Maryland/Virginia and another girl who happened to be from New Jersey and look frightening similar to someone I used to know. Enough said.

The instructor (ummm, I forget his name) was really good. He was from Savannah, GA and had to be about 22, maybe 23? He was young... and that made me feel old. He was a funny little dude. The highlight of the day had to be when he stepped up to the Saltine challenge. The other guy in the lesson explained how it's impossible to eat 5 saltines in a minute, without water or any other beverage, of course. It IS impossible. One word -- sawdust. Try it, you'll see.

The lesson covered the basics of turning, jumping and switch, and it was just what I needed. The one thing that he said that seemed to be true (after hitting a few blacks on Day 3 and 4), was that you can apply everything we learned when you doing steep blacks or bumps.

OK - given that I'm writing this a week after the actual vacation, I'm gonna wrap it up. Antonio (Chris' friend) and three of his friends showed up at their house on Friday night. I hit a massive wall of exhaustion around 8/9 PM on Friday night, so hit the hay early. Not before playing Madden 2006 against Chris though... this was my first legitimate win. Not the last.
